Vascular Compression & SCD's The Sequential Compression Device, or SCD, is used to enhance blood circulation in the legs. For patients who are immobile, the SCD can help prevent many circulatory diseases that are common to non-mobile patients by increasing circulation in the lower extremities. This in turn can reduce pain and swelling. There are models designed for strictly hospital use, and medcom offers these for rental & sale to home patients, and then there are models whose primary intent is that of home use, and of course, we offer those as well. Kendall is the inventor and original patent holder of the concept for SCD devices. Their products are designed for hospital use - 24/7. The SCD machine is simple to use. It consists of a controller connected by an air supply hose to a pair of specially designed inflation Sleeves. The Sleeves are rapidly inflated by the controller and gently squeeze the ankles, calves, and thighs in turn to enhance the circulation of the legs and lower body.
