Learn More About Lymphedema Pumps (sometimes known as a Sequential Compression Device or Intermittent Pneumatic Compression Device)
Designed to treat primary or secondary lymphedema by increasing circulation, a lymphedema pump compresses the affected body part – generally the arm(s) or leg(s). Working from the feet (or hands) the pump compresses in a gentle, gradient, sequential pattern upwards toward the heart.
Lymphedema pumps treat swelling of the arms and legs as well as other conditions such as chronic venous stasis ulcers and venous insufficiency.

Lymphedema pumps:
- reduce pain
- reduce edema
- mimic the lymphatic system
- promote lymphatic flow by moving fluid in the proper direction (from the hands and/or feet towards the heart)
- stimulate circulation to promote wound healing
